A Frankfort tradition,
for a new generation.
The cotillion experience

Established in 1974, Frankfort Junior Cotillion brings ballroom dance and social etiquette to middle school students in Frankfort, Kentucky. Respect, kindness, and acceptance are at the heart of the experience.
Courtesy begins with noticing other people. A thoughtful introduction, an attentive conversation, or an encouraging word can help someone feel at ease. Cotillion gives young people a place to practice that consideration together.
Our story, since 1974Learn with a partner, practice together, and become more comfortable on the dance floor.
Bring care to introductions, conversation, and the everyday ways we interact with others.
Take a first step, welcome someone new, and discover how much a small kindness can mean.

The heart of cotillion
Respect, kindness, and acceptance guide the experience.
A dance is a chance to meet someone. An introduction can help a room feel less unfamiliar. We encourage students to notice one another and put consideration into practice.
Led by director Gina Tate, Frankfort Junior Cotillion connects a tradition begun in 1974 with the social world of today’s middle school students.
